New daycare centre for Schönefeld: Quantum leases around 1,800 m² to the municipality

Berlin, Brandenburg: Daycare places are in high demand in Schönefeld, but the supply is not keeping up.Now the municipality of Schönefeld and Quantum are setting an example in the Sonnenhöfe.Around 1,800 m² of office space plus 2,000 m² of outdoor space will be converted for the operation of a daycare centre with an expected 168 places. Both parties have concluded a long-term lease agreement for this purpose.

The requirements and needs of various stakeholders have already been worked out intensively with Schönefeld's mayor and the relevant departments over the past few months. "With the new daycare centre in the Sonnenhöfe, we want to respond to the increasing demand for daycare places as quickly as possible," says Christian Hentschel, Mayor of Schönefeld.

"The 'Libelle' daycare centre is another important building block in the Sonnenhöfe neighbourhood.In addition to the four doctors' surgeries on site, this will create an attractive offer not only for the residents of the 600 or so flats in the neighbourhood, but also for the entire neighbourhood. We have a trusting working relationship with the municipality of Schönefeld and are delighted to welcome them as a new tenant in the Sonnenhöfe neighbourhood," adds Arndt Buchwald, Managing Director of Quantum.

The conversion work in the Sonnenhöfe (Hans-Grade-Allee 3/3a) will begin in early 2024 and be completed just a few months later in the summer.Quantum had already acquired the mixed-use neighbourhood in 2021 for several professional pension funds from Germany and thus included it in its asset management.Angermann Real Estate Advisory AG acted in an advisory capacity for the letting.
