HanseMerkur Grundvermögen commissions Quantum with the realisation of the Gänsemarkt Höfe
Eight-storey new building under construction in Hamburg city centre
Hamburg, 19/06/2025 | HanseMerkur Grundvermögen AG (HMG) has selected Quantum as its partner for the redevelopment of the modern office and commercial complex at Hamburg's Gänsemarkt. Building permission has already been granted, and construction work is scheduled to begin this summer. Completion of the project, which has been on hold since October 2023, is planned for mid-2028.
Malte Andes, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of HanseMerkur Grundvermögen AG, says: "Quantum is a renowned project developer from Hamburg, whom we know well from other projects. This is an excellent Hamburg solution for the new premium property being built at Gänsemarkt. We look forward to a successful collaboration."
Philipp Schmitz-Morkramer, board member of Quantum Immobilien AG, says: "We are delighted to have been entrusted with the task of realising this important urban development project. The ensemble will fill a gap in the building line and enhance the Gänsemarkt and the adjacent Colonnaden."
The planned eight-storey new building with a total rental area of around 20,700 m² will be connected to the buildings of the Colonnaden promenade. This will create spacious inner courtyards and passageways with an attractive mix of restaurants and retail outlets. The upper floors will feature flexible office space, ranging from open-plan concepts to cubicle structures. In the rear attic, outdoor terraces will offer views over the rooftops to the Binnenalster lake.
HanseMerkur Grundvermögen AG acquired the real estate project development at Gänsemarkt in early 2025 for one of its investment vehicles, in which institutional investors can participate together with HanseMerkur. HanseMerkur Grundvermögen already manages real estate assets for more than 70 institutional investors, including pension funds, insurance companies, banks, savings banks, foundations and family offices.
