Elbloft Neumühlen

Hamburg

In Hamburg-Neumühlen, directly on the Elbe with views of the water and harbour, the architectural practice KSP Engel und Zimmermann designed a modern loft building with 24 high-quality residential units for Quantum in 2004. The “Elbloft” marks the beginning of a chain of five freestanding buildings of similar volume. Supported by solid diaphragm walls, the L-shaped building stands lightly on a polder structure, which also ensures that the underground car park can be used safely in the event of flooding. From the waterside, the building resembles a raised, framed shelving unit, with floor slabs that appear almost delicate.

High-quality, solid, luxurious.

Half of the ground-floor space is used for offices. The four upper floors contain residential units exclusively. The generous lofts range in size from 110 to 170 square metres. They are furnished to a discreetly luxurious and comfortable standard. This approach is also reflected in the restrained selection of materials: steel, glass and exposed concrete.
