Alte Post

Hamburg

The Alte Post was built in 1848 by Alexis de Chateauneuf in the style of the Tuscan Renaissance, featuring sandstone round arches. At the time, Hamburg’s various postal institutions were brought together under one roof. An optical telegraph for transmitting messages was installed on the distinctive clock tower.

High-quality, distinctive, historic.

Following the demolition of the 1970s buildings, an energy-efficient new-build has restored the unity of the floors behind the historic façade. The approximately 10,000 m² of gross floor area has been converted into attractive office and retail space, while the pavement along Poststraße was widened and redesigned using high-quality natural stone.
