# Dorn­busch 4

 

### Hamburg

 

Dornbusch 4 is home to Quantum’s headquarters, situated in the heart of Hamburg’s historic stock exchange and banking district. The office building is not a new-build, but the revitalisation of a corner building constructed in 1960. The architects msm meyer schmitz-morkramer from Cologne preserved the characteristic features of the original building while also adding clearly visible new elements. For example, the section of the building on Dornbuschplatz was given a new seventh storey whose metal cladding sets it apart from the natural stone façade of the original building without appearing “tacked on”.

## Modern, sus­tainable, flexible.

The interior was also treated with sensitivity, allowing the period staircase with its distinctive semicircular stairwell opening to be preserved. Otherwise, the building was largely stripped back to its structural shell in order to adapt it to the requirements of modern office use.
